All Things Must Pass

Including our hassle free dawn patrol parking at 15th street in Del Mar.  But that may all be a happy memory by as soon as tomorrow morning.  The lot has been sold to an investment/holding company and they will not have the same loosey goosey approach of John King.  They now have "real" employees who wear blue polo shirts with name tags.  These folks will be in the kiosk and at the gate starting at 8 a.m. every morning of every day of every week of every month.  It gets better.  After a short while the lot will become a "pay at the gate and display" your pass on the dashboard of your car.  No pass?  Then you can expect one of Del Mar's finest to issue you a $40 parking ticket.

We (Chuck, Luke, Terry and I) talked with one of the blue meanies this morning as they were setting up at the entry gate and the kiosk getting ready for their first day as the new crew.  They assured us that if you were in the lot by 8 a.m. you would not be charged on your way out.  That assurance was qualified with more than a few "...I think..." and "...I haven't really been told..." and "...I'm not sure but,...".  In other words, he wanted to do his best to not startle us and provoke an unwelcome response.

So, I don't know how this will play out either but I think it is a safe bet to speculate that our parking situation is about to change.

I call dibbs on the first unmetered street parking spot on the east side of the street just north of the lot.

Have a good one
Aloha
Gary
