Slow, small scale surf this morning. Thigh to waist high with some rare slightly larger set waves. Fairly smooth sea surface with a hint of lump. Rising tide with a high of 5.9 at 9:30am. Low of 0.6 at 3:30pm. Crowded this morning with about 40 people out; and the surf PE class is still due to arrive. Still, it's worth a go out.

A cool autumn morning with very little surf. Again, mostly waist high shore break (which does get pretty zippy but in 6" of water). Smooth sea surface conditions with a steeply angled SW swell direction. Even though there are only about 15 people out it's very crowded for the amount of waves and the small take off zone. Incoming tide (5.8 at 9:15 am). Low tide of 0.7 at 3:15pm. Water temp is dropping into the low 60's.

Had some technical difficulties this morning trying to post surf report. But figuring that late is better than never...

Surf this morning was waist high shore break. Too much tide and the swell angle is too steep for Del Mar to suck it in. Smooth sea surface conditions and sunny skies. Water temps in the high 60's. Low tide of 1.0 at 2:30pm. About 10 people out.

Super clean with some nice looking ankle to knee high shore break surf. The inside is about the only place at 15th street you're going to get any rides this morning. And compared to what's showing in the reef (nothing) it's world class. Light easterly breeze, mid 60's air temp and same in the water. About 3 hours off a negative tide so there is some push as it works its way back up to a 6.3 high at 10:15am. Next low tide of 0.1 feet will show up at 4:15pm. About 30 people out, all wondering "WTF, I've been sitting here for an hour without a wave".

Cooler weather (had to wear a sweatshirt!), much less surf. Small, short period wind swell waves in the knee high zone. Unorganized and lifeless. Lots of residual bump on the water from yesterday's winds. Light breeze out of the NE. Rising tide (5.6 feet at 9am). Next low at 3pm (0.8ft). 2 people out.

Some autumn coolness in the air. No surf to speak of unless ankle to knee high shore break is your thing. A cool NE breeze and clear and sunny skies. Incoming tide (5.2 at 8:30am) then ebbing out to a 1.3 foot low at 2:30pm. 12 people out.

Not as clean; not as big and waaaaay more crowded (70+). Waist to chest with some shoulder high sets. NNW wind has put a bump on the water and a crumble on the waves. Overall fair minus conditions and shape. Then there's the crowd to contend with. It's fairly well spread out but there's a lot of people sitting on the inside, making riding a set wave a little like threading a needle. Or you could go with Kenny's approach; "just ignore 'em". Medium outgoing tide that will bottom out at 9am (3 feet) since the high was 3.3 feet, there's not much change. Afternoon high tide will be at 4pm (4.7 ft).

Still inconsistent but with slightly more size. Waist to chest high surf from the SSW. Sets are largest south of the reef but more walled up than on the reef. Some nice peaks if you know where to sit. The bulk of the line up is way south of 15th street while the main reef is sparsely habitated. 11th street is easily 2 feet larger. Smooth sea surface conditions with a light breeze out of the NW. A 2.7 low tide right now which will turn around in earnest at 11:30am then up to a 4.7 high st 2:30pm. About 50 people out.

Clean, knee to waist to belly high surf with glassy sea surface conditions. Surf is very inconsistent but very shapely when a set shows up; especially the lefts. Light crowd of twelve or so, clumped together on the main reef lineup. Just coming off a 2.2 low tide which will ramp up to a 5.0 high at 1:30pm. Grey overcast skies with no wind. A nice mellow surf morning in Del Mar.

Small, weak and bumpy. Knee to almost waist high surf courtesy of a slightly disorganized NW wind swell. Winds out of the SW have put some texture on the water but conditions overall are fair; surf at poor +. Moderately large Labor Day crowd of about 25 with more arriving. Tide is low but rising; 5.2 feet at noon. Next low tide shows up at 6:30pm (1.5 feet).

Conditions have improved. Smooth sea surface, light SE breeze and some nice looking waist to chest to shoulder high peaks. Best looking lefts and rights are right on the reef. Tres Palms is offering up some exciting racetrack shore break stuff. Either way you're bound to have some fun. Crowd is light with only about 10-12 people out. Tide is flowing in to a 5.5 high at 11am then back out to a 1.1 low at 4:30pm.

Crummy conditions. Major lump and bump this morning. And SW wind. Knee to waist high westerly wind swell surf with crumbling tops and overall sloppy shape. But on the positive side there are only 10 people out. Some interesting shore break stuff happening at Tres Palms and that's about it. Tide is rising and is just about at max flood right now (7:20am). A 5.5 high at 10:15am then ebbing to a 1.1 low at 4pm.
