1-2 feet; 3+ on the sets. Very clean with good sea surface conditions. Some south swell mixing in with a smaller west is producing some nice peaks in all the usual places. Inconsistent with some long holding periods between sets. No wind; air temps in the low 50's. Sun is out. Tide is mid cycle and at its max ebb right now. Low tide will be at 11 am (0.8). Next high tide at 6pm. 7 people out.

Stormy Monday

Overcast skies. Light drizzle. South wind at 10mph. Ankle to knee high chop masquerading as surf. Tide is low (0.8) and will begin to turn around in earnest at 10am, flowing into a 3.3 high at 1:15pm. No one out.

Crummy, crumbly thigh to waist high surf. Poor shape and form; morning sickness on the water. Just a breath of an offshore; not enough to help. There is the occasional set that offers up a nice corner here and there but you gotta wait for it. And be in the right spot. A slightly below average surf day for Del Mar. Incoming tide pushing up to a 4.6 high at 11am. Max ebb begins at 2:30 racing out to a 0.8 foot low at 5pm. About 11 people out.

Waist to chest high surf with some shoulder high sets. A bit smaller overall than yesterday but the quality remains unchanged; crummy. The inside is a seething cauldron of massive rips, mindless mashup of whitewater and endless chop. Once outside you will encounter long lined up closed out walls. Light offshore breeze with some light surface bump. Incoming tide tops out at 5.0 feet around 11am then ebbs to a 0.4 low around 5pm. About 12 people out.

Confused and sloppy. Shoulder to head high surf (some + sets)this morning. A mishmash of swell periods are bumping into each other and the result isn't pretty. Poor shape with closed out sets and doubled up in between stuff. No wind but some leftover lump from yesterday's blow. Biggest north and south of reef. Strong southerly currents. Incoming tide is about 2 hours off it's 5.2 foot peak with a 0.1 foot low showing up around 4:15pm. No one out.

Hepatitis Stew...

Post storm surf in the 8-10 foot range. Heaving, large short, medium and long period surf pushing through some very choppy waters. About 90 minutes from a 6.5 foot high tide and the surge is climbing halfway up the ramp. No shape, no form. Just raw ocean power on display. Air temp in the mid 40's with a frigid east wind. Add poor water quality due to runoff, mix well and you get "not a surf day". Tide will turn around at noon, draining to a -1.1 low at 3pm. No one out.

Jumbled up storm surf. Hard to tell exactly how big it is; my best guess is 6-8 feet. A lively sideshore SW wind is blowing the tops off the waves in the surf zone and kicking up whitecaps outside. Tide is very close to its 6.4 foot zenith; will begin to ebb in earnest around 11:30am and reach a -1.1 low around 2:30pm. Rain is moving in and looks to be 1-2 hours away. No one out.

Glassy conditions. Funky waves. Chest to shoulder high; backing off; breaking close in; medium to short period stuff. Sets are going head high and then some but those are walled up and creased with a tendency to close out. Smallest at the reef, larger both north and south (20th and 8th street respectively). Tide is ebbing but it's only 2 hours off a 5.8 high. Look for max ebb around 9:30am then a -0.1 low at 1pm. About 8 people out.

Lots of surf. Lots of walled up closed out surf. Chest to head high with plus sets. Fair to poor shape. Smooth sea surface conditions with a sideshore NNE breeze. Tide is on its way out with a low tide of 0.4 feet showing up at noon. The surf PE groms are out in force (20+).

A bit smaller but basically the same lined up, closed out west swell. Waist to chest high with some head high sets. Smooth sea surface, no wind, and a heavy wet fog blanket. Tide is ebbing; about 2 hours from a 1.5 low. Max flow begins at 1:45pm resulting in a 2.8 high tide at 4:30pm. It looks like there's one, possibly two people out.
