There's so many people out

So there must be some waves out there; ahhh, here they come: long, loopy waist high slow rollers. Not much of a ride but way more than we've had in the past 7 days. Classy surface conditions, moderate crowd (for a Friday) and some fun waves every once in a while. Get out there if you can. It is, afterall, the last day in August!

Metallic glean

Soft, silvery ocean surface this morning. No wind, no crowd and no waves. There's really not much else to say except that the surf whisperers are looking towards the end of the week for things to pick up. Truth? Fiction? Hype? Guess we'll just have to stick around and see.

Yea! School's Back in Session!

And that will have a dramatic impact on the crowd factor. Like this morning for instance. Nobody's out in the lineup! Completely vacant. Nada. Nobody. No waves either but that's besides the point. Glassy, soft conditions with some knee high shore break. Nothing surfable. Hmm, maybe I should paddle down to Torrey Pines and back. You know, just for some exercise? Nahh, who would do that?

Hi, my name is Eddy and I'm

Not your friend. Strong eddy circulation this morning. Thick marine layer, drizzle, howling west wind and teeny tiny micro lines pouring through. Basically crappy conditions and no surf. So if you have something to do that you've been putting off forever; this would be the time to do it without being distracted by the surf potential.

Hey now what's that sound

Well, it's not waves crashing on the beach that's for sure. Small (ankle to knee high), weak surf is what you will find at 15th street this morning. A light south wind has shown up for good measure and it is starting to mess with the surface conditions. There are 10 guys out reveling in the warm water and squadrons of sting rays cruising the near shore shallows. In short, not too much going on this morning.

Some windswell

Is showing this morning. Not epic by any means but some respectable knee to waist high summer surf. Fair shape. Some light surface bump and calm winds. 11 people out. Definitely worth a look and probably a go out. Stay frosty.

Looking kinda wavy

Clean, smooth surface conditions with knee to waist high surf. Kinda slow right now but some of the sets look good, especially the lefts. Typical Friday crowd; 30 and still counting so there is going to be some competition for the better set waves. As you would expect with a south swell it's a little inconsistent. So you are going to be sitting some. But it's way better than sitting in a cube farm.

Clear and Breezy

West wind is up and going already, putting some heavy crumble on some already weak surf. Knee high slow rollers trying desperately to reach shore. 10 people out bobbing around in the chop, looking ever westward for that line that will brighten their day.

Sweet Relief!

The heat spell has backed off a tad but so has the surf. Weak knee high shore break crumblers and slightly lumpy surface conditions. About 15 people out. Flailing furiously as they try to slide into tiny wavelets. Looks like a good morning to hit the gym and then amble over to the track for an afternoon with the ponies.

Like Riding the Shorebreak?

Then today is your day! Clean, glassy, knee to waist high surf. Showing on the western edge of the reef but not breaking till they are in waist deep water. Pretty weak and gutless. Despite the lack of ridable surf, the crowd has swelled from 3 (yesterday, when it was actually better) to about 20 this morning. I see the harbor seal that was harassing me a few weeks ago out cruising the line up looking for some new victims; heading right for Luke.

Glassy August Morning

Glassy conditions, nonexistent crowd; mostly waist high peaks throwing off some tasty lefts on the reef. More consistent than yesterday but the rising tide should take care of that. All in all, it looks like a good morning to get wet so hurry on down if you can. If not, oh well; get your priorities straight will you?!

The Swell is Back

More energy in the water this morning; more people too (20-25). Waist to chest high with fair shape. Best shape on the reef. Calm surface conditions and the sun warming my back. All the usual suspects are out so you might as well hit it too.

No sun this morning

Slightly bumpy surface conditions with waist to maybe chest high crumblers. Marginal shape and rides. Some larger, more shapely sets pop up on the reef every once in a while. That's what Luke, Dave and Chuck are waiting for. About 30 people out, spread across the reef. Hey, there's mosquitos out here! How weird.

Starting to lighten up a bit so the sun should spring out from the overcast any minute.

Sunny Daze

Lots of wave action this morning at 15th street. Calm surface conditions, slight offshores, waist to chest high lines. Sets are walled up but the in between stuff is fair shape. Sets are jacking up on the outside edge of the reef so the line up is pretty "far out". About 30 people out which is a lot but it's half of what SanO was yesterday.

No wind this morning

Mostly short period (stacked on top of each other), knee to waist high with the occasional chest high south peak mixed in. Walled up and closing out but if you're in the right spot you can pick off one of the southies for a pretty clean left. Working best on the reef. Light crowd factor with 8-10 people out.

More Size. More Crowd

More wind. Larger sets than yesterday but not as shapely. Mostly knee to waist high. 40+ people in the line up. Strong, steady southwest wind is making for some chopped up conditions producing crumbling, mushy surf. Oh well, at least there are plenty of rays around.

South Swell

Is starting to show this morning. And so is the crowd! Easily 20 people out. Calm surface conditions, knee to waist high with fair to good shape. Sets ate a tad walked up but there are some shoulders to be had. I'm on it!
