New NW Swell Rumbles into San Diego

Yep, we had some real waves this morning
Except for the crowd (50+) the conditions were good as the new NW swell wrapped into the SoCal coastline.  At 15th St in Del Mar it was overcast, glassy and shoulder to head high on the sets.  The tide was coming up and the swell had a tough time with it as the morning progressed.  But, it was the best surf in a while and the crew made the most of it.  Groms ruled the inside, old guys the outside peak on the reef.  The water is still in the upper 60's which makes all of it way more fun.

If you haven't been to Del Mar since John King sold the parking lot you will have a little adjustment to make in your routine.  The new owners no longer give the dawn patrol a free pass; everyone pays something now.  The competition for free street parking is almost as intense as a crowded line up so get there early or at the shift change as the morning crew leaves for work.
Stay glassy San Diego

Here are some photos of some of the better rides or more notable gear selection: (I just noticed that all of the photos are of lefts; weird huh.)

A nice line

Big enough to be a SUP except it's not...
And he always manages to slide into one way before anyone else....

As I said, the groms ruled the inside...

This guy was ON FIRE...

Yes, it was a bit crowded

Nice bottom turn

Finished off with some spray...

Headed towards a sand barrel...

Have a good one
Aloha
