Low tide; shoulder high surf

Surf has kicked up a notch this morning. More west in it so it's a bit faster as well. Even some close outs here and there. Waist to chest; larger on the sets. It was glassy but an eddy circulation has already begun to put some serious ripple on the water; fair shape. Shape should improve with incoming tide. About 30 people out. Water is 70-72, so that's nice. Now how about some sun?

The south swell

Has disappeared and in it's place we have a very short period WNW wind swell. And a nasty south wind that has blown out the line up. And a giant rip. Basically the total opposite of yesterday.

Windy, choppy and bumpy conditions with waist to chest high sloppy surf. Not much of a surf day here in Del Mar but the sun is out, the air is warm and the Del Mar Fair is on. Not too shabby.

Less consistent

But the waves are still there. Waist to chest high with fair shape. Sets in the shoulder to head high range. Still sort of mushy till the inside section but fun. What troubling is the west wind that's trying to get going. Water is warm and the living is easy.

Swell is holding.

But a south wind is already on it. Conditions are rapidly deteriorating and the surf along with it. Waist to chest high with some slightly larger set waves. Inside sections offering the best faces; it gets really soft and slow further out on the reef. Tres Palmas is standing up a little more but shorter rides to go with it. I'd say that "you really missed it" if you weren't here before the wind picked up (yes, that would include me).
