The Sunday Surf Photo Page

Today was pretty much a replay of yesterday except there were a lot more people in the water.  Strong east wind, decent swell and only a moderate amount of urban drool to deal with.  There was a period of about 90 minutes before the onshore winds kicked in and thrashed it.  Here is what was going on during that small window of "good" weather.

Did not clean up as much overnight as I thought it might

Right around 18th Street

A new twin fin set up?

Got air?

Face full of spray

Meanwhile, up at 20th Street...

It wasn't all big stuff

Back side bottom turn sequence, one...

...and two.  Helmet and all.

Hard off the bottom

And the Sets Come Marching In

Big. Yes, that's the right word for today. Overhead and then some with moderate offshores. Short period storm surf, not much in the way of shape. Amazingly there are a handful of people out at 20th street to the north, two out at 8th street to the south and nothing in between. Oh wait, some guy with a 10 ft. Stewart just walked down the ramp. Let's see how that works out. Oh, and it's cold!

BTW, I'm sure the water is full of nasty stuff today after yesterday's rain flushed all of the urban vomit out into the ocean. Nice to see that most people are staying out. There is hope for you after all.

Blowing Chunks!

Strong SW wind has created a very chunky ocean this morning. I believe the proper surfing term is "blown out". White caps everywhere and surprisingly small surf. No one out; empty parking lot. Good day to clean out the garage!

Lucky Thursday

Good conditions, light surface bump, no wind and waist, maybe waist+ surf. The reef looks good and the lefts are working nicely. And it's sunny! Only bummer is the 30+ high school surf PE groms making their way down to the lineup. Where's our enforcer when we need him?
