High tide slugs. A super high incoming tide has slowed down the surf considerably. But it's still pretty good with waist to chest high gems popping up. Larger set waves. Sea surface is glassy smooth and the dawn has cast a golden glimmer to it. Water temp has dropped to 60-61 degree range. Might be a good day to call in sick. About 25 people out. 6.1 high tide at 8:30am. 0.3 low at 3pm.

Slow going this morning. Great conditions; no wind, glassy sea surface, light crowd, good swell direction. But not many waves. Mostly knee to waist high with a high tide pushing the break way to the inside. Rare sets pushing to almost chest high. Rising tide (5.9 @ 8:15am). Low tide of 0.6 @ 2:15pm. About 15-20 people out.

Don't believe the reports of 1-2 feet you're seeing on Surfline this morning. We have waist to chest high surf (with some larger sets) courtesy of a medium period west swell. Not much else out there to break up those west walls so expect mostly closed out shape. Conditions are kind of wonky but there are some speedy inside gems. Lumpy sea surface conditions with a rising tide that will peak at 7:45 am (5.7feet). Low tide of 1.0 at 2 pm. About 15 people out.

Lots of people; not many waves. Inconsistent knee to waist high; long periods of flatness. Smooth sea surface conditions with light offshores grooming the wave faces. Low tide of 2.7 feet about now (7:16am). So the tide is good; conditions are good; surf is meehhh; and the crowd (30) is all out of proportion to quality and quantity of waves. High tide of 5.6 feet at 2pm.

Short interval waist to chest high surf this morning. Not very well defined and larger set waves are closed out. All breaking fairly close in. Slight ripple on the sea surface; no wind. Incoming medium tide (2.0)right now. High tide (6.1) at 12:30pm. Chilly air temps (57); water temps in mid 60's. Moderate crowd of 20+. Me, I'm waiting for some sun.

Low tide waist to chest high close outs. Shoulder high sets. Not enough south left to break up those long west walls. And a short swell period makes for a less than average morning for surf here in Del Mar. Overall I'd say it needs a touch more water. There's a big bull sea lion cruising the inside and getting some nice rides. Conditions are clean with a smooth sea surface and no wind. Moderate crowd with about 20 out with more to arrive as the surf PE groms arrive. Tide was low at 5:15am running up to a 6.6 foot high at noon.

Glassy conditions with knee to waist high surf; breaking way inside. Shape is marginal; unless you like a grinding shore break. Rare chest high sets from the south. Tide is rising which is not helping. Very crowded especially to the south of the reef. No wind; no sun either. High tide is at 8:30am (6.2) and low is at 2:45 pm (0.0).

High tide with small scale (knee to thigh high) shore break surf. Clean conditions with just a hint of NE breeze. Still some NW swell showing with the addition of some southerly swell direction this morning. Light crowd of 10 people. High tide of 5.7 at 8am. Low of 0.7 at 2pm.

A bit more swell. Waist to chest. Still short period and still stacked one on top of the other. The westerly swell is providing most of the size while the underlying south is helping to break up those long west walls. Medium incoming tide that will top out at 5.1 feet at 12:30pm. Low of 1.8 feet at 8pm. About 20 people out; no street parking this morning (or tomorrow). Street resurfacing in process

Some fairly clean waist to chest high short period wind swell on tap this morning. Swell period is only 3-4 seconds so there's a lot of "double ups" occurring. And while the surf is lining up in all the right spots on the reef, it is mostly just rolling on through and not breaking till it becomes shore break. The sandbars at Tres Palms and 17th have much more definition and punch. Smooth sea surface conditions with a light NE breeze. Incoming tide reaching 5.4 feet around noon then backing down to a 1.0 low around 7pm. Light crowd factor with only 8 people out.

SW winds have put a serious crinkle in the sea surface this morning. Waves are few and far between with lots of crumble on them. Mostly waist high stuff that backs off on the middle and inside sections. Slim pickings. Wind is picking up; beginning to look a little blown out. Incoming tide will top out at 10:15am (5.8). Low tide is at 4:15pm (0.5). About 25 people out.
