Damn internet! Swell predictions have lured 50 or more souls out into the water this morning. The surf is, in fact, larger but so is the tide. Inconsistency (the signature of south swells) is also plaguing the line up. Conditions are clean, the sun is out and the wind is down. Sets are in the waist high range and with a little local knowledge one can thread through the crowd and pick off a nice peak. For any length of ride though you have to stare down that shallow, shallow shore break and just go for it. 5.4 high tide at 9:30am ebbing to a 1.0 low at 3pm.

A slight increase in size, but still not much more than knee high surf this morning. Breaking very close in and in shallow water. Glassy conditions, no wind with 12 people out. So, not much in the way of surf but I'm heading out for a near shore paddle down and back up the coast. Tide is flowing in to a 4.9 high at 9am and then ebbing to a 1.9 low at 2pm.

Another day of glassy but flat conditions. Ankle high shore break is about the best you'll see; and those are the sets! No wind, light overcast and zero crowd. Actually there are two people out. But instead of sitting on their boards waiting for waves they are standing next to their boards in knee deep water; no paddle take offs. 4.5 high tide in about an hour, low tide shows up at 1:30pm (2.0).

Very clean; very small. Ankle to knee high shore break surf this morning. Glassy conditions although a NW breeze is swirling around here and there. Looks like a great day for an ocean swim or snorkeling or paddle boarding or kayaking. And there are 15 people sitting on their boards in front of the reef that believe surfing should be on that list too.

Windy City! Strong WNW wind has put some serious lump and bump on the water. Surf is in the knee to waist range and the swell has a more northerly direction. But basically it's already blown out and unrideable. No one out. Tide is low and will move on to a 4.9 high at 2:15pm.

Black sky with an eddy. Knee to waist high crumbly surf this morning. More west, less south. Eddy induced morning sickness on the water and low tide. Slightly more size than yesterday but still kinda wimpy. 4 people out. Tide is on the rise to a 4.9 high at 1:30 pm. So, thick overcast, eddy winds and tiny gutless waves. Not exactly the stuff of surf music is it...

Well, I was thinking this morning was going to have better surf. Guess I should stop thinking. It's not as good as yesterday (which was awful) and they're 20 people out; basically 5 times more than yesterday. Short period crossed up wind swell. Slow rolling knee high shore break. Usually reliable sources described it as "...crap..." And it's supposed to be smaller tomorrow.

Small, short period doubled up wind swell surf this morning. Occasional sets burping a flurry of waist sized mushburgers. Mostly in the knee high zone without much shape or juice. Incoming medium tide which will flow into a 4.9 high at 10am. 10 people in the line up. Not much out there, but tomorrow...we'll just have to wait till tomorrow won't we...

Still small. And getting smaller. Ankle high shore break this morning with clean conditions. Just a breath of air out of the NE; putting a slight texture on the water. A perfect day for kayaking, diving, snorkeling, whatever. Just not surfing. Tide is on its way up to a 4.6 at 9am then out to a 2.0 low at 2pm. 4 people out.

Most excellent conditions. Not much rideable surf. Knee to thigh high low tide short period wind swell. Mostly weak shore break with some tantalizing outside peaks that simply flatten out and disappear. Glassy sea surface, intense sun and the seemingly endless summer crush of humans. Tide will flow in to a 5.8 high at 3:30pm. 3 or 4 people out, bobbing around. Surf camps have not yet infested the waters.

A piled up mess. Tons of short period swell waves colliding with each other as they make their way eastward. Knee to waist high with poor shape. It's pretty muddled at 15th street this morning. Good sea surface conditions and the sun is out! First thing too. 4 people out so no crowd factor. Tide is low right now. Flowing in to a 4.7 high at 2:15pm.

Short period NW wind swell. Waist to chest high with fair shape. The line up is sort of confused and out of place but the increasing tide should help with that. Sea surface conditions are good with just a hint of NE breeze swirling around. Crowd is moderate (20) and spread out. Tide is low, flowing into a 4.7 high around 1:30 this afternoon.
