Not what it seems
In between brief periods of flatness there are some shoulder to head high sets pushing through. Sets are lined up and closing out for the most part. I'd say this morning's session probably has its moments but there's a lot of waiting for those moments. Good surface conditions, moderate crowd.

Better Tide
Still coming up to a 6.2 high tide but not until 9:30. Chest to shoulder high surf this morning with fair shape. More consistent than Sunday. Somewhat crumbly but there are some decent corners on the sets. There's some surface texture and for a Monday, a large crowd (30+). Overall, it's better than mowing the lawn.

Hard to Believe
But there is actually someone out in this seething, heaving, boiling post storm mess. He's way south and off the peak but hey, he's out there.
As you would expect conditions and surf are less than ideal this morning. Shoulder to head high storm surf all over the place. Winds are actually calm on the beach but it's white capping further out. This is going to move some sand around and depending on how long the wind lasts, begin to lower water temps.

Day 2
Once again, flat with periods of intense flatness. Ankle high shore break is about the best surf you'll find this morning. No one out at the reef and surf PE is beginning to put in at Tres Palms. A SE breeze has put in wrinkle on the water and the high tide was about 15" ago. There are some waves forecast to arrive later today but until then you'll have to find other ways to enjoy the ocean.

49 Degrees?
Yep. That's this morning's air temp. Fortunately the water temp is still in the upper 60's. We have a small NW swell running that is producing surf in the waist high zone. Breaking close in. Sets are larger but walled up and closing out. Good surface conditions with a light offshore breeze. Tide is on the way out with a 1.3 low around noon. 7 people out.

West swell
This swell is producing some waist to chest high surf. This direction does not always give up the best shape and form. Still there are a few corners to pick off if you know the lineup. Plus it's probably some of the best surf all week. And it's crowded; at least 40 people in the water. Fair surface conditions, slight southeast breeze and outgoing tide.

Looks Pretty Good Except for...
This...
Not sure why but it may have to do with flow from storm drain in front of the break. But the sign hasn't deterred the 30 or so people in the water. But hey, it's just an "advisory" right? What could go wrong?
Waves are in the waist to chest region this morning with good conditions. And nice form. Wind is calm. Tide is rising. Then there's that damn sign to think about. Or not.

Anemic...
Although there is more swell showing this morning it's still small and weak. Knee to maybe thigh high with crumbly shape. Surface conditions are good with a light easterly breeze. Light overcast which should be clearing soon. Tide is rising to a 5.4 around 10am. Water temp has dipped into the 65 degree zone. 10 people out.

Not totally flat...
But it is small. Knee high shore break with poor shape. High tide is at 8:30 so look for it to become even smaller till the tide backs off around 11 or so. Most people are just sitting around in the line up. Except Scott. He just milked a small inside section for a really smooth nose ride. Which he topped off with a tiny tube ride. Also on the nose.

Tiny swell, high tide
A 6.0 high tide has sucked the life out of any swell trying to make it's way to shore this morning. All that's here is a knee high shore break that isn't really breaking till it's right on the sand. Good surface conditions with a very light offshore breeze. 50 degree air but...the water is still in the upper 60's! Probably a better day for diving or kayaking.

Pretty Clean...
Nice (if not somewhat "brisk") conditions this morning. Two mornings of off shores and light on shores in the afternoon have helped. Surf is running in the waist to chest zone; larger on the sets. The high tide has swamped it right now but as the tide drops and before the wind shifts it should get better. The water is still in the upper 60's but with the wind a full suit will keep you from shivering in the wind chill. Very light crowd this morning, only 10 people out.
